Statement by Jury and K-pop panel Europe
We strongly condemn the policy of JYP. That artists of this company are no longer allowed to express their national origin, violates human rights of the UN. These rights have been recognized also by UN member South Korea.
J.Y. Park as company owners is to make responsible in this case. We consider the withdrawal of Honorary Award, given on occasion of "4th European K-pop / J-POP MUSIC AWARDS 2016 (January 2)."
We hope insistently that S-Korean Music business returns to the path of the international law. We are deeply disappointed in what has happened here. It is a shame that a 16-year-old girl, became a pawn in international diplomacy,
We also sharply criticize the Chinese media, Chinese netizens and the Chinese Ministry of Culture for this rumour. Taiwan is a free democratic state. Its citizens have the right to determine their own representatives in free elections.
We express the hope that this will remain a unique case. We wish Tzuyu, as well members of the girl group TWICE, all the best for 2016. She is a great artist and a unique personality.

Despite JYP Entertainment's statement that TWICE's Tzuyu was not forced to apologize, top Taiwanese figures have come out to press charges against the agency for coercion.
On January 19, it was revealed that Taiwanese figures like human rights lawyer Wang Kefu and MC Hu Zhongxin are pressing charges against JYPE for allegedly forcing Tzuyu to apologize for appearing on 'My Little Television' with a Taiwanese flag and allegedly having a "pro-Taiwanese independence" agenda. The same charges are being pressed against Taiwanese singer Huang An, who is allegedly against Taiwanese independence and was one of the first celebrities who reportedly criticized Tzuyu.
Lawyer Wang Kefu stated, "For no reason, Huang An infringed upon Tzuyu's free will and coerced her to apologize through unlawful means and gave her a heavy heart." However, Huang An has denied the allegations and stated that he considers himself Taiwanese.
Though the charges are not expected to give rise to any real legal consequences, they're definitely making headlines. The Center for Multi-Cultural Korea also stated that it would be requesting an investigation into JYPE and J.Y. Park from the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
